There are definitions of this phrase, but here’s mine. Well, not “mine” as we are all connected to the Universal Mind and are inspirationally impacted…good stuff…
In our society, we are programmed into expressing our ego selves from birth. These become our “first thoughts” of survival, competition, lack, separateness, materialistic/object referral kinds of things. Ego. Typically, we react to our day-to-day situations from this place…triggering the chemical reactions linked to past behavior, feelings, beliefs and ultimately our actions. This produces the endless chatter in our brains, reflecting our worry, regrets, etc.
But the good news is we have the brain power to re-link to create a “better” reaction and to engage our authentic (soul) self.
This is what I refer to as the “second thought” . This lets us really consider what’s going on from a bigger perspective (not just the scared ego self) and choose a different reality…to choose the higher ground, , enlightenment, etc.
Sometimes, I find I go to third, fourth and fifth thoughts as I work on situations that challenge my ingrained beliefs and past behaviors. This is normal and part of the journey of a “spiritual being having a human experience.”
What’s the bar? Avatars like Jesus, Buddha were the 100% First Thought beings. And I believe our purpose is to get the second+ thoughts to the first thought more often…increasing our % over many lives, getting closer to this ultimate expression of Oneness.
There are days I’m at 0%…completely reacting to my fears and then there are times my second thoughts show up at the head of the class. Always a journey…
